The Bride and Groom

About Us

Like a lot of modern day couples, Ginny and Dave met via online dating. Yes, they are a Match.com success story! Cue the corny commercial of how two people met online and fell in love. Both of them had tried the site a year before they met, but neither had much luck (some dates were worse than others – well mainly worse for Ginny). During the course of their first few dates, Ginny and Dave connected over a mutual love of food, White Sox baseball, exploring the city of Chicago, and did we already say food?

To sum up their four and a half years of dating, Ginny and Dave have composed a list of a few things that they’ve learned about each other:

Fast forward to the proposal in March 2014. Spoiler alert...they went ring shopping together, so Ginny knew a proposal was coming, she just didn’t know when it was going to happen. Always the planner, Ginny knew that something was up when Dave asked her if they could go to dinner this particular Saturday night. Clue one that he was going to propose: the last time Dave officially asked her to go to dinner was probably their third date. Dinner came and went and they headed back home where Dave said a surprise was waiting in the office. Ginny doesn’t like surprises, so here’s where she started to get nervous. Ginny looked and looked, but couldn’t find anything. Dave pointed out an old art history book and told Ginny to look in it. In the front of the book, Dave wrote a note explaining that this could be the first of many to fill their big wall of books one day. (Just to clear things up, Ginny is a huge art history nerd and would also love to one day have a huge built-in wall of books...…hence why this book was special.) Dave had carved out the inside of the book, pasted all the pages together, and placed the ring inside. Ginny said yes, Dave popped the champagne, and the wedding planning began to bring us where we are today!

Wedding Party

Jenn Ciucio (Bridesmaid)

Jenn met Ginny back in 1987. Ginny quickly became her little shadow. As Ginny grew up, Jenn took her & her sister Jolise on many movie, dinner and mini-golf outings in the JENNE4 vehicle. Back when cassette tapes were cool, Jenn put up with countless requests to play and rewind and play again, Ace of Base’s "I Saw the Sign". She was also dragged to a plethora of boy band concerts, where she had to listen to mind-numbing debates over who was better, ‘Nsync or Backstreet Boys. We all know the answer is ‘Nsync, but we won’t get caught up on that right now. Jenn currently resides in Bridgeport and is an Office Manager for FCAN in Chicago.

Lisa Cochran (Bridesmaid)

Ginny met Lisa in 2001 during Theology class at Mother McAuley High School. On a first day exercise to get to know your neighbor, Ginny and Lisa quickly bonded over their startling similarities. They were both from Bridgeport, huge Sox fans & their sisters were both studying Nursing at St. Xavier University at the time. As Lisa and Ginny’s friendship progressed, they made countless dance routines to popular songs as entertainment for their friends during sleepovers and birthday parties. They are both grateful cell phones didn’t have recording abilities at the time and YouTube had yet to come into existence…phew. Lisa currently resides in Oak Lawn with her husband Clint. She is a Kindergarten teacher at Flossmoor District 161.

Jolise DeGregorio (Maid of Honor)

Jolise is Ginny’s favorite sister. They lived together in Bridgeport with their parents until Jolise moved closer to Midwestern University to pursue her Doctorate in Physical Thereapy. She fled the city without looking back and has a mild heart attack every time she returns to visit her sister on the northwest side of the city. Although Ginny was slightly annoying as a child and always wanted to play with Jolise and her friends, Jolise managed to tolerate her. As an adult, she actually wants to spend time with her little Schmoopsie as much as she can. Jolise currently resides in Darien and is a Physical Therapist at Hinsdale Hospital and Manor Care.

Janet Faber (Bridesmaid)

Ginny knew Janet for a long time during their Dance Infusion days, but they didn’t become close friends until a dance competition in 1999 after a dinner outing to Bennigan’s. They became inseparable and were always over at each other’s houses. Ginny ate all the Scardino’s pickles & popcorn and Janet whitened her teeth so much that they’d glow in the dark at their sleepovers causing Ginny to laugh uncontrollably. Janet & Ginny had a brief stint as Nelly & Kelly impersonators. (I think the Spongebob band-aid really added an authentic touch.) Janet currently resides in Naperville with her husband Dan and sons Jack and Alec. She is a Project Manager at Nielsen. Oh and…Hey Jan, hold my hose!

Traci Maher (Bridesmaid)

Ginny met Traci in 2006 at Harrington College of Design. Ginny even convinced Traci to take summer courses with her one semester. What a terrible friend she was. Their favorite late night school snack was Walgreen’s chocolate covered raisins, which they often ate several pounds of during finals. Traci & Ginny share a mutual trait of indecisiveness. When they go out to dinner, her husband Denis has to choose a restaurant for them, otherwise they’d spend the entire night trying to decide. Traci currently resides in Elmhurst with her husband Denis and daughter Aubrey. She is an Interior Designer for McDonald’s and has confirmed that Coke and Diet Coke are actually different at McDonald’s and we are not all crazy.

Tori Senerchia (Bridesmaid)

Ginny met Tori in 1993. Being a younger sister, Ginny was extremely excited to have a little cousin to play with, almost like a real life baby doll! She then realized that you have to be a little more careful with a human baby than you would with a Cabbage Patch baby, but she still loved her Toro and that hasn’t changed to this day. Tori currently lives with her parents & brother in Evergreen Park when she’s not working on her degree at St. Ambrose University.

Anna Suwada (Bridesmaid)

Ginny met Anna in 2001 during first period Honors Bio their Freshman year at Mother McAuley High School. They still have nightmares from their leaf identification project…"shudder." Although they were vaguely aware of each other, they didn’t become friends until they were partners for a scavenger hunt at the Field Museum. It was quickly evident that neither Anna nor Ginny would settle for anything less than an "A" as they scurried around the museum, Ginny’s mom in tow, trying to get every last answer correct. They mutually bonded over their ridiculous academic expectations for themselves (a fact that hasn’t changed to this day) and the rest is history. Anna currently resides in Lemont with her husband Jerry and is a Pharmacist at LaGrange Hospital.

Grace McGlynn (Junior Bridesmaid)

Grace is one of Ginny’s younger cousins. She is pretty excited to "dress-up" for the wedding and Ginny and Dave cannot wait to have her as part of their special day. She currently resides in Alsip with her parents and brother Matthew.

Devin Anderson (Groomsman)

Dave and Devin met freshman year of high school during one of their many shared classes. Being gluttons for punishment, both of them took a number of AP classes throughout their 4 years at SHS. How both of them managed to pass said classes is another matter entirely. (Devin once fell asleep during an AP history exam, while Dave didn’t understand basic physics until the semester after they were taught.) Their crowning achievement was Devin’s senior year performance in the Mr. Saxon competition where he asked Dave to jokingly "guest lecture" on the daily life of a cross country runner, which Devin was in high school. No one got the joke, and needless to say Devin did not win the competition. He currently lives in San Francisco where he works for Google.

Laura Bukiet Knisley (Groomslady)

Laura and Dave met in 1984, the greatest and most important year ever. Dave’s success in life is partially due to his sister since he’s copied many of her life decisions and choices (joining the high school choir because she was a member, moving to Chicago after college, etc). Dave also has Laura to thank for his first experience with alcohol when he visited her at Tulane University in New Orleans and was surprised he could still do calculus after a few drinks. (Dave was a bit of a late bloomer). Laura works at Josephinum Academy in Chicago where she lives with her husband Jon.

Lindsay Bukiet (Groomslady)

Dave has known Lindsay since 1988 when the Bukiets decided that Dave was a better fit as the middle child than as the youngest. Much as Dave did with his older sister Laura, Lindsay spent much of her early life mimicking him, asking for the same foods he asked for, which frustrated and annoyed Dave for no discernable reason. As he got older he realized that imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, and based on Lindsay’s success in life, clearly she was doing something right. Lindsay is a project manager at CLEAResult and currently lives in Chicago with her husband James.

Charles Engle (Groomsman)

Dave and Charles met in junior high during a band event at Hoffman Estates High School. After talking for most of the afternoon Charles invited Dave over to play video games and eat pizza, which became a running theme throughout high school. Given his many interests and world travels, Dave credits Charles for introducing him to a number of topics he’d otherwise have never sought out (including but not limited to: Sun Tzu’s The Art of War, the 1884 novel Flatland, and the Korean liquor soju.) Charles currently lives in Atlanta where he’s working toward a masters degree in mathematics.

Jon Knisley (Usher)

Jon is Dave’s brother-in-law. Jon attended the University of Illinois which means everytime they play Purdue, he and Dave are required to be rivals and dislike the other person, as per the rules of college sports. Fortunately, neither team has been very good the past few years so there really isn’t much of a rivalry. He also consistently tries to convince Dave and Ginny to adopt a dog, which won’t happen for a while, but the emails of puppies he regularly sends are nice. As one of the wedding ushers, he will be required to sing and dance like this during the ceremony and reception. Anything less will be viewed as a disappointment. He lives in Chicago with his wife Laura and works at Kirkland & Ellis LLP as a business development specialist.

Corey Lee (Groomsman)

Corey and Dave met in 2004 when Corey was an incoming freshman in Glee Club. They became good friends Dave’s super-senior year at Purdue when they lived in apartments across the hall from one another. This resulted in a number of memorable moments (one Breakfast Club comes to mind) as well as a particularly fun NYE a couple years later in Chicago that turned into an escalating competition of one-upsmanship. Corey lives and works in Indianapolis with his fiancé Alyse.

Joe Macaluso (Groomsman)

Dave has known Joe since 1998 when they were both members of their church choir, but they didn’t become friends until the spring of 2001 during the SHS production of On A Clear Day You Can See Forever, quite possibly the worst musical ever written. Neither had major roles so they spent a lot of time sitting backstage waiting and quickly bonded over mutual boredom. The remainder of their high school days consisted of Frasier marathons and late night chess matches (Joe insists he has the winning record but Dave’s memory is unsuprisingly a little fuzzy). Joe works for Knowles Electronics as a senior accountant and resides in Schaumburg, IL with his wife Katie and son Leo.

Keith Starost (Best Man)

Keith and Dave met in 2003 as freshman in the Purdue Varsity Glee Club. Keith sat next to Dave during the 3-hour bus ride to the annual training camp, and based on first impressions found Keith to be friendly and talkative, albeit a little over-excited/annoying. This opinion quickly changed as they became good friends, living together twice at Purdue and acquiring an unhealthy number of inside jokes that very few people understand. Keith is a high school math and science teacher and lives in Shelbyville, IN with his wife Lisa and two sons, Luke and Levi.

James Tobin (Usher)

James is Dave’s brother-in-law. I know what you’re thinking, Dave’s brother-in-law is Nobel Prize winning economist James Tobin? Well you’re mistaken, James is not a Nobel Prize winning economist but rather an industrial designer from Ireland with an eye for design and an interest in photography. He also has a vineyard in California named after him, if you reverse his first and last name. (Go ahead, google it.) As one of the ushers, he will be required to sing and dance like this during the ceremony and reception. Anything less will be viewed as a disappointment. He currently lives in Chicago with his wife Lindsay.

Eric Van Houten (Groomsman)

Eric and Dave met freshman year as new members of the Glee Club. One requirement before heading to the August training camp was to memorize information about each glee clubber (name, hometown, major, voice part). While walking to Elliot Hall of Music to board the bus to camp, Dave heard someone calling his name behind him. Since no one else at Purdue could possibly know his name and pertinent information (unless Dave unknowingly had a stalker), he figured this was another glee clubber. Eric was the first person he met from Glee Club, and they’ve been friends since. Eric lives in San Diego with his wife Christina.

Jack Faber (Ring Bearer)

Jack is Ginny’s "adopted" nephew. Ginny & Jack share an affinity for guacamole and avocadoes in general. He loves animals and is looking forward to the arrival of his little brother in April!

Thomas and Elizabeth Molinets (Ring Bearer and Flower Girl)

Thomas and Elizabeth are Dave’s cousins. They were also the ring bearer and flower girl at his sister’s wedding, so they’re undoubtedly experts at walking down aisles holding rings and flowers by now.

Oscar (Honorary Ring Bearer)

Oscar is Dave and Ginny’s cat. He loves food, string, meowing as loudly and as often as possible, and generally knocking things on the ground. Contrary to most cats, he never wants to be alone. His main life goals are to be fed 24/7 and have constant attention showered on him. He won’t be present at the wedding due to the large crowd, but he’ll be there in spirit.

Stella (Honorary Flower Girl)

Stella is Jon and Laura’s dog. She loves her Piggy, as you can see in her picture. Although most toys don’t last long with Stella, Piggy I, II, III, IV and all subsequent Piggy iterations have lasted longer than any other toy! Although Ginny & Dave would love nothing more than for Stella to walk down the aisle with Piggy in tow, the church has this silly rule about no pets. She will also be there in spirit.
